Founded in the year 1967, the University of Stirling is one of Scotland’s top universities, with strengths in both teaching and research. The University is based on three campuses in Stirling, Inverness and Stornoway and has much to offer students of all backgrounds and interests. With strong foundations in teaching and research, the University provides its multi-nation student community with uniquely flexible, broad-based learning opportunities.
All campuses support a range of study activities from CPD courses to first degree, Honours and Master’s programmes and Research Degrees. Subject areas available include Arts, Management, Human Sciences and Natural Sciences.
The student population of around 9,000 is drawn from across the UK and also includes a large international community.
The University of Stirling offers more than 70 taught postgraduate programmes, plus research opportunities across 19 Departments. The academic session at Stirling comprises two 15-week semesters. Taught masters consist of classes for these two semesters and a research project/dissertation over the summer.

Built around a loch, the University campus is surrounded by the steep wooded Ochil Hills. The Wallace Monument, commemorating one of Scotland’s most famous fighters for independence, dominates the skyline as it looms over the campus. The nearby city of Stirling has a rich history and its castle, jails, abbeys and churches all have fascinating stories to tell.
